What is Global Digital Futures?
Global Digital Futures is an organization focused on empowering and platforming technology and digital media with a Global South focus. Originally envisioned by Chipo Mapondera in 2018 while a student at SOAS, it was initially a technology-focused podcast produced in collaboration with SOAS Radio. Today, Global Digital Futures has come a long way and following the success of GDF Think Tank on YouTube the organization has changed into a āhomeā for digital media art projects with an Africa focus.

Starting in November 2023 the Global Digital Futures team has been presenting their award winning digital media art installation āFuturistic Paganā.
Futuristic Pagan is a virtual reality experience connecting fashion, nature and spirituality, in a Zezuru traditional dreamscape. It presents the fashion collection, designed using 3D modelling techniques by Sabina Mutsvati, to elevate the traditional Hanga and Retso fabrics. The virtual reality experience, designed and built by Chipo Mapondera, explores our connection to the ancestral realm through nature. The hut, Imba yaAmai becomes the fashion showroom and site of matriarchal hierarchy and metaphysical meaning.

What was my role?
Held a consulting role focusing on project finance assisting the core team in ensuring they were able to continue to produce media content. Successfully applied and was awarded grant funding through Santander UK.
